Hill Manti

Hill Manti is a location briefly mentioned in the context of judicial proceedings and execution within Nephite society. It was the site where Nehor, an individual who had introduced priestcraft and had slain the righteous man Gideon, met his fate. After being found guilty of murder and the propagation of false doctrines - teachings that directly opposed the word of God - Nehor was carried to the top of Hill Manti. It is here, set against the backdrop of the heavens and the earth, that Nehor was forced to confess his misdeeds. In this act of public acknowledgment, his prior claims and the gravity of his actions were laid bare before the community. Following his confession, Nehor endured an ignominious death upon the hill (Alma 1:15). This event underscores the significant function of Hill Manti as a place of both confession and execution, which may suggest its importance as a location for carrying out the ultimate penalties of the law during that period.
