Onidah was a hill in the land of Antionum, the territory east of Zarahemla, near the seashore and south of Jershon, where the Zoramites had gathered after separating from the Nephites and turning to worship idols under their leader Zoram (Alma 31:1-3). Alma2 was teaching and speaking to the people on the hill around 74 B.C. when a great multitude came to him: the poorer Zoramites, who had been cast out of the synagogues they had built because of their coarse apparel and were despised for their poverty, especially by the priests (Alma 32:1-3, 5). They are described as poor in worldly things and “poor in heart” (Alma 32:4). Their spokesman asked what they should do, having no place to worship, and Alma2 taught them on faith and the word of God likened to a seed (Alma 32:4-6). The hill is not described further.
