Waters of Ripliancum ( geography model)

Ripliancum, Waters of, is an aquatic region noted in the Book of Mormon as the location where the final encampments of the Jaredite armies of Coriantumr and Shiz were established before their last battles. The name Ripliancum is defined in the text to mean “large, or to exceed all,” which suggests a vast body of water, perhaps the largest within the context of the narrative (Ether 15:8). This area’s significance extends beyond its size, as it marks a poignant moment in Jaredite history, serving as the prelude to the concluding conflicts that led to the demise of the Jaredite civilization. Near these waters, the hill Ramah, which the Nephites later called Cumorah, was situated to the south and was reachable within a day’s journey. The geography described in the account implies the presence of a range of “many waters, rivers, and fountains” in the vicinity, as noted by the prophet Mormon, suggesting that this area was characterized by abundant water sources, likely fed by runoff from higher elevations to the west (Mormon 6:4). Ripliancum stands as a geographic testament to the sweeping and tragic events that unfolded among the Jaredite people.
