The valley of Gilgal was a Jaredite battleground where Coriantumr fought Shared during the wars that destroyed the Jaredite nation. After Shared’s sons restored the kingdom to Coriantumr, war spread across the land, and Coriantumr, angry with Shared, marched against him; their armies met in the valley of Gilgal, and the fighting was severe (Ether 13:27). Shared fought him for three days before Coriantumr beat him and pursued him to the plains of Heshlon. On the plains Shared attacked again, beat Coriantumr, and drove him back to the valley of Gilgal (Ether 13:28–29). Coriantumr fought Shared a second time in the valley of Gilgal, beat him, and killed him; in that battle Shared wounded Coriantumr in the thigh, so that he did not fight again for two years (Ether 13:30–31).
