Ezias was an Old World prophet, not named in the Bible, who lived before 600 B.C. He is named only once in scripture, by Nephi, the son of Helaman. Speaking to the people of Zarahemla, Nephi listed Ezias among prophets who testified of the coming of the Messiah, placing him between Zenock and Isaiah, alongside Jeremiah (Helaman 8:20).
The record gives no account of his ministry or teachings beyond this single mention. Because he is named with prophets whose words predate Lehi’s departure from Jerusalem and is not found in the Bible, his prophecies are taken to have been among the writings on the brass plates obtained from Laban (Helaman 8:20).
