Cezoram's Son

Cezoram’s son, whose name is not provided in the text, briefly ascended to the judgment seat in the Nephite government following the assassination of his father, Cezoram, who had been the chief judge. His tenure as chief judge commenced during a time of increased societal instability marked by the secret combinations and increasing power of the Gadianton robbers, who had infiltrated various echelons of Nephite society. Despite the hopes that might have accompanied his ascent, Cezoram’s son’s term in office was tragically short, as he too was murdered within the same year of his appointment (Helaman 6:15). His death is emblematic of the deep-seated corruption and the pervasive influence of the Gadiantons, which eventually led to significant turmoil and the downfall of the Nephite government.
