Archeantus

Archeantus was a distinguished Nephite military officer who lived in the latter part of the fourth century A.D. His service and dedication to the Nephite cause are affirmed by his inclusion in an epistle written by Mormon, the Nephite general, to his son Moroni. Archeantus is mentioned among the “choice men” who lost their lives in the ferocious conflicts that characterized the Nephites’ waning years. In these times of great tribulation and military hardship, Archeantus made the ultimate sacrifice during a battle in which his forces could not secure victory over the Lamanite army. His death is particularly noted alongside other notable Nephite warriors, Luram and Emron, suggesting his significance either through his military role, close friendship with Mormon, or possibly both. His name, being recorded and relayed in this despairing context by Mormon, serves as a testament to his valor and the tragic circumstances that befell the Nephite nation (Moroni 9:2).
