Amoz was the father of the prophet Isaiah. He is named only within Nephi’s quotations of Isaiah, where his name identifies Isaiah by patronymic.
He appears in 2 Nephi 12:1, which quotes Isaiah 2:1: “The word that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.” He appears again in 2 Nephi 23:1, quoting Isaiah 13:1: “The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.” The record gives no further detail about Amoz himself.
