Wilderness of Akish (Malay geography model)

Jaredite Refuge and Battle Area

Wilderness of Akish (Malay geography model)

The wilderness of Akish was a region closely associated with the extensive military conflicts that characterized the final phase of the Jaredite civilization. Located near the Jaredite capital city, Moron, the wilderness of Akish served as a backdrop for pivotal battles involving prominent figures such as Gilead, Lib, and Coriantumr, referenced in the book of Ether. It was to this wilderness that Coriantumr pursued the brother of Shared, Gilead, instigating a significant battle. Coriantumr was successful in defeating Gilead and continued to press the offensive by laying siege to the area (Ether 14:3). The confrontation at the wilderness of Akish led to heavy casualties, with many thousands falling in the struggle. Following this event, Gilead managed to elude Coriantumr by escaping in the night and took control of Coriantumr’s throne in Moron. After a period of regrouping, Coriantumr returned to face Lib, who had ascended to the Jaredite throne following Gilead’s assassination. The conflict then intensified as Lib succeeded in pushing Coriantumr’s forces back into the wilderness of Akish. The wilderness of Akish served not only as a stage for these martial clashes but also as an area fundamental to the shifting control of power within the Jaredite nation, contributing to the eventual downfall of this once mighty people.
