Northern Land visited by Mormon and Ammoron

Land of Antum (Malay geography model)

The Land of Antum is a location mentioned in the Book of Mormon as the region containing the hill Shim. Ammaron, a Nephite record keeper, deposited sacred engravings and records pertaining to the Nephite people in this hill. He later instructed Mormon, when he reached twenty-four years of age, to retrieve the plates of Nephi from the hill Shim so that he might continue the historical account of the Nephites. Mormon faithfully followed these instructions, retrieving and adding to the records as commanded (Mormon 1:3). The Land of Antum is noted for its proximity to the city of Jashon, which Mormon later mentioned when chronicling the Nephite wars and their movements during those turbulent times (Mormon 2:17). The specific geographical location and the extent of the Land of Antum within the Nephite territory are not detailed, but its significance is underscored by its role as a repository for sacred Nephite records.
