Son of Tabeal

The son of Tabeal was the man whom Rezin, king of Syria, and Pekah, king of Israel, plotted to set on the throne of Judah in place of its Davidic king during the days of Ahaz, king of Judah (2 Nephi 17:1). Their plan was to march against Judah, break into it, and install the son of Tabeal as king (2 Nephi 17:6). The name Tabeal is of Hebrew origin; the man himself is identified only as Tabeal’s son.

Isaiah delivered the Lord’s word to Ahaz that the plot would not stand and would not come to pass (2 Nephi 17:7). The record gives no further detail about Tabeal or his son (2 Nephi 17:6).
