The Sherrizah widows were the women left at Sherrizah after the Lamanites took prisoners from its tower. In a letter to his son Moroni, Mormon reports that the Lamanites carried off men, women, and children captured at the tower of Sherrizah (Moroni 9:7).
Many widows and their daughters remained at Sherrizah. The army of Zenephi then carried away the provisions the Lamanites had not taken, leaving the women to wander wherever they could for food; many of the old women fainted by the way and died (Moroni 9:16). At the time Mormon wrote, the Lamanite armies lay between Sherrizah and his own weakened force (Moroni 9:17).
