Kib was the second king of the Jaredites, son of Orihah and grandson of Jared. Orihah begat him in his old age, and Kib reigned in his father’s place and begat a son, Corihor (Ether 7:3).
When Corihor was thirty-two he rebelled, settled in the land of Nehor, drew away many people, raised an army, and marched on the land of Moron, where he took Kib captive — the captivity the brother of Jared had foretold for the people (Ether 7:3-5). Kib remained in captivity under Corihor until he was very old; while still captive he begat another son, Shule (Ether 7:7). Shule grew strong, made swords from steel out of the hill Ephraim, armed his followers, gave battle to Corihor at the city of Nehor, took the kingdom, and restored it to Kib (Ether 7:7-9). Kib then bestowed the kingdom on Shule, who began to reign in his stead (Ether 7:10).
