An unnamed messenger who brought word to the house of David that Syria had allied with Ephraim, the northern kingdom of Israel. The report came in the days of Ahaz, king of Judah, when Rezin of Syria and Pekah of Israel marched against Jerusalem. On hearing it, the heart of Ahaz and his people “was moved, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind” (2 Nephi 17:2). The Lord then sent Isaiah to meet Ahaz and tell him not to fear the two kings, for their plan against Judah would not stand (2 Nephi 17:3-7).
