Valley of Alma (Baja geography model)

Rest stop for Alma and his followers

Valley of Alma (Baja geography model)

The Valley of Alma was a valley where Alma1 and his people camped on the first day of their flight from the land of Helam, having traveled all day after escaping bondage under Amulon. They named the valley Alma, because he had led their way in the wilderness (Mosiah 24:20). There they poured out their thanks to God for delivering them out of bondage and easing their burdens; all their men, women, and children who could speak lifted their voices in praise (Mosiah 24:21–22).

The Lord then told Alma to hurry his people out of the valley, because the Lamanites had awakened and were pursuing them, promising to stop the Lamanites in the valley so they could pursue no further (Mosiah 24:23). Alma and his people departed into the wilderness, and after twelve days arrived in the land of Zarahemla, where king Mosiah received them with joy (Mosiah 24:24–25).
