Levi was a Jaredite king, born in the old age of his father Kim. Kim had reigned in unrighteousness and was brought into captivity by his rebelling brother, where he remained all his days and where Levi was born (Ether 10:14).
Levi served in captivity for forty-two years after his father’s death, then made war against the king of the land and took the kingdom for himself (Ether 10:15). As king he did right in the sight of the Lord, and the people prospered. He lived to a good old age and had sons and daughters, among them Corom, whom he anointed king in his place (Ether 10:16).
