During the reign of Ethem, a wicked Jaredite king descended from Ahah, many prophets came and prophesied to the people, calling them to repent of their iniquities and warning that the Lord would utterly destroy them from off the face of the earth if they did not (Ether 11:12).
The people hardened their hearts and would not listen, and the prophets mourned and withdrew from among them (Ether 11:13).
