Wine

Wine is a drink that caused a man near Laban’s house to fall “to the earth before me, for he was drunken with wine” (1 Nephi 4:7). A man “planted vineyards round about in the land” and “made wine in abundance” (Mosiah 11:15).

He “became a wine-bibber, and also his people” (Mosiah 11:15). People attempted to administer wine to the Nephites “that they might destroy them with poison or with drunkenness” (Alma 55:30).

The Nephites “would not partake of their wine, save they had first given to some of the Lamanite prisoners” (Alma 55:31). They tested their liquors because “if their wine would poison a Lamanite it would also poison a Nephite” (Alma 55:32).
