Gesture and token is the raising of people by the hand “as a token of peace” and the rending of garments “in token, or as a covenant.” A Lamanite king put forth his hand to raise those before him according to a custom the Lamanites had taken from the Nephites (Alma 47:23). Moroni’s people came running together with armor girded about their loins and rent their garments, covenanting that they would not forsake the Lord their God (Alma 46:21).
Those healed by Jesus and those who were whole “bow down at his feet, and did worship him.” As many as could come kissed his feet, and their tears bathed his feet (3 Nephi 17:10).
