City of Angola (FARMS geography model)

Retreat for Mormon's Army

City of Angola (FARMS geography model)

Angola was a Nephite city taken by Mormon during the Lamanite wars around A.D. 327. In that year the Lamanites came against the Nephites with such force that Mormon’s armies retreated toward the north countries and came to Angola, where they took possession of the city and prepared to defend it. They fortified Angola with all their might, but the Lamanites drove them out (Mormon 2:3-4).

The Nephites were then driven out of the land of David as well, and from there marched to the land of Joshua, in the borders west by the seashore (Mormon 2:5-6). The record gives no detail on Angola’s size, population, or origin, and does not say whether the Nephites founded the city or took it from another people.
