When the Lamanites awakened to find their city occupied by a host of Nephites they could have saved their lives by simply surrendering. But in a state of complete panic they tried to escape from the city. This resulted in many Lamanites being killed but the Nephites finally found themselves in complete possession of Nephihah without losing the life of a single Nephite.
