“Ammon and Lamoni Returned to the Land of Ishmael”

Brant Gardner

Redaction: The story of Lamoni and Ammon in Middoni was important for two reasons. First, it introduced us to Lamoni’s father, an account taken from Ammon’s record. Second, it relates Aaron’s deliverance so that he might continue to preach. Having met these narrative requirements, Mormon leaves Aaron’s account and returns to Ammon’s.
