“Their Brightness Did Exceed That of the Stars in the Firmament”

W. Cleon Skousen

Lehi even got to see a vision of the Twelve Apostles who would minister in the earth with Jesus over 600 years later. Lehi said that in this vision the luster of the Twelve Apostles exceeded that of the stars. It is at this point that we can see exactly what these spectacular series of visions were designed to accomplish. Of course, Lehi was told to testify to the Jews concerning the visions he had seen, but it turns out that Lehi was receiving a completely new dispensation of the gospel. But it was not for the Jews. It was designed for the millions of Lehi's descendants who would occupy the western hemisphere of America clear around on the other side of the world. As in the opening of other dispensations, notice that Lehi was allowed to see the Father in all his glory. He saw the Son in all his brilliance exceeding that of the Sun. Then he saw the Twelve Apostles coming at the end of this new dispensation which began with the prophet Lehi and ended with the resurrection of Christ.
