Nephi’s Records
Part of:
Colonization of the Promised Land
Upon the Lord’s command, Nephi makes some plates out of ore, and records the historical account of Lehi’s story.
These plates give tell the secular history of the people; they are to be handed down from one generation to the next.
These plates also give accounts of of kings and warfare.
Nephi is commanded to make a second set of plates.
These plates do not give a full history of his people.
These plates are for recording the religious and spiritual accounts of his people.
Nephi only gives a partial account of his and his family’s proceedings in his record.
Nephi does not bother to fill these plates with mundane historical information, he instead fills them with spiritually uplifting content.
Nephi begins writing in these plates by summarizing his story up to this point—he writes in Judeo–Egyptian language.
