Zoramite Synagogues

Zoramite Synagogues are buildings erected by the Zoramites, who gathered there “on one day of the week,” called it “the day of the Lord,” and worshipped “after a manner which Alma and his brethren had never beheld” (Alma 31:12).

A Zoramite synagogue had “a place built up in the center,” a standing place “high above the head” whose top admitted only one person (Alma 31:13). Zoramite priests cast poor people out of the synagogues because of “the coarseness of their apparel,” though those people said they had labored abundantly to build them (Alma 32:2-5).
