“Mormoism [sic].” Painesville Telegraph (Painesville, Ohio) (21 June 1833).

Mormoism— We have received a written communication, offering a challenge to any respectable person to take a twist with him on the divinity of a book, whereof Joseph Smith, jun. is “author and proprietor.”—The person wishing to open such a discussion in our columns, must be a young convert, not to know that the Mormon bible was long since proved to be an imposition in the minds of all rational men. Besides, what room for argument is there with a sect which is taught that all they think, do or say, is the spirit of God.
