As explained under Alma 46:27, the original text here in Moroni 9:24 had two instances of the verb dissent. The 1981 edition interpreted the verb as desert, in part because 𝓟 had the spelling desent for this verb (which looks like desert ), and also because in Mormon 6:15 𝓟 actually reads desert, although that was an error of misinterpretation on the part of scribe 2 of 𝓟. The critical text will restore both instances of original dissent here in Moroni 9:24.
