This chapter is a heartbreak letter which Mormon wrote to his son, Moroni, under the most abhorrent, abominable and discouraging circumstances.
It is obvious that the Nephites had just lost a critical battle and the worst part of it was the fact that the Nephites have learned nothing from their defeat. They continued in their wickedness and spread dissension as they divided into cliques and quarreled one with another.
