“All Little Children Are Alive in Christ, and Also All They That Are Without The Law”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Little children are redeemed through the Atonement. Little children are alive in Christ (see Moroni 8:12, 22). Little children are whole and are not capable of committing sin (see Moroni 8:8–10). A child becomes accountable at the age of eight: “Children are not accountable before me until they are eight years old” (JST Genesis 17:11). This does not mean that little children can not do inappropriate things, but rather that they are not accountable for their actions before God until eight years of age. For this reason, we parents will have their sins upon our heads if we fail to teach them by the age of accountability (see D&C 68:25–28).
