“They Ordained Them by the Power of the Holy Ghost”

W. Cleon Skousen

Whenever authority was conferred upon the elders of the Church it was done by the "power of the Holy Ghost." This meant that the Holy Ghost was the confirming authority which ratified the ministry of these servants of God. As it says in another place: "By the water ye keep the commandments, by the Spirit ye are justified, and by the blood are ye sanctified."1 This scripture clearly emphasizes the important function of the Holy Ghost in confirming priesthood functions.
