The Nephite disciples, who were ordained by Jesus (see 3 Nephi 12:1), called others to priesthood service in the Church. This priesthood practice parallels that which was revealed by the Lord to Joseph Smith in this dispensation (see D&C 20:38-56). The Book of Mormon thereby stands not only as another witness of Christ but also as another witness of the “true and living Church” of Christ.
