“Satan Had Full Power over the Hearts of the People”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

It is a day of ominous horror for the Jaredites. Satan has triumphed. We allow Satan to have power over us as we become blinded in our minds and as our hearts become hardened. Let us learn from this account by seeking with full commitment to be believing and have a softened heart toward God’s word. There is a failsafe antidote to the poison of Satan’s regime. It is to follow the prophet of God:

Wherefore, meaning the church, thou shalt give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me;

For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith.

For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name’s glory. (D&C 21:4–6)
