“Moroni Prayed Unto the Lord That He Would Give Unto the Gentiles Grace”

Brant Gardner

Moroni’s prayer that Yahweh would give grace to the Gentiles returns to verse 26: His grace is “sufficient.” Moroni pleads with the Lord to bless the Gentiles with understanding the book’s message or, in other words, prays that Yahweh’s grace will be “sufficient” to enable them to pass the test and accept the Book of Mormon.

The other part of his prayer is “that they might have charity”—meaning that they will accept the Book of Mormon in spite of its weakness in writing. This definition of charity is “tolerance” or “good will,” rather than “love.”
