Moroni is not clear about whether he is discussing the New World or the Old World disciples. The incident might fit either, but it is mostly likely a New World reference. That is where Moroni’s attention is focused and from which he has drawn other examples. Furthermore, the received Book of Mormon text does not contain Old World manifestations “in great power” to his apostles, such as the transfiguration, post-resurrection appearances, etc.
