“If There Be No Faith”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

God does not show forth His glory nor His power unto the working of mighty miracles among them, unto men who do not believe in Him, that He is. Therefore, we understand more fully the meaning of the words of Jesus Christ: "Come unto Me, O ye Gentiles, and I will show unto you the greater things, the knowledge which is hid up because of unbelief." (Ether 4:13-14) Belief and faith are sometimes used synonymously, or being alike, or nearly alike in meaning or significance. Certainly belief engenders faith. Our faith in God becomes an impelling agent unto righteousness in the same ratio as our belief in Him grows stronger.

"For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith." (II Nephi 27:23)

"For I perceive that ye desire that I should show unto you what I have done unto your brethren at Jerusalem, for I see that your faith is sufficient that I should heal you." (III Nephi 17:8)
