“It Was by Faith That They of Old Were Called After the Holy Order of God”

Brant Gardner

Moroni is not referring to the priesthood in specifying “the holy order of God,” although certainly that is involved. Rather, “they of old” are the great men of the scriptures—great because of their revelatory and prophetic relationship with God. Their faith qualified them to be called as prophets and leaders.
