“Justice Unto the People but Not Unto Himself”

Monte S. Nyman

There may have been more than one generation between Riplakish and Morianton. Both the above account and the Jaredite genealogy indicate Morianton was a descendant of Riplakish (Ether 1:23), and he did not rebel against Shez until many years after Riplakish was killed (Ether 10:9). Morianton’s uniqueness was his doing good for the people but not for himself (vv. 10–12). However, his poor example may have caused his son Kim to be wicked (v. 13). The brother who brought Kim into captivity is not named but he was of the same generation (v. 14). Levi was the son of Kim (Ether 1:21).
