“The Kingdom of Shule and the Kingdom of Cohor”

Brant Gardner

This brief depiction of two warring kingdoms suggests fairly large populations in two locations, each large enough to support the king. The incessant warfare further suggests a population large enough to deploy its young men as soldiers. Mesoamerican history appears to confirm such constant warfare in later cultures. There is so little information available for the Olmec that it is currently impossible to confirm for this time period. This ability in only the third generation from the founders to field armies so frequently confirms the presence of other inhabitants.
