“In the Mouth of Three Witnesses Shall These Things Be Established”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Moroni reveals to the prophet Joseph Smith that there will be three witnesses to the Book of Mormon and that they, too, will play a providential role in establishing these things. The law of witnesses provides that in the mouth of two or three is everything established here upon the earth (see Matthew 18:16; 2 Corinthians 13:1; 2 Nephi 11:3). In the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost witness of each other (see 3 Nephi 11:32–36; 1 John 5:7–9) and also of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon (see Ether 5:4). To establish truth, the Lord always uses witnesses. In all priesthood ordinances for salvation and exaltation there are always two witnesses. Those who repent in witness of their accepting the word of God and being willing to come unto the Father in the name of the Son will be received into the kingdom of God.
