It is both fitting and proper that the Lord gave the first Urim and Thummim to the brother of Jared. Prior to his day, there was no need for interpreters for the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech (Gen 11:1). As soon as the brother of Jared was given a vision of transcending importance, the Lord provided a way for the knowledge of that vision to be shared with the righteous.
