The Lord said he was going to give Mahonri two stones which were to be hidden up with the record. In a modern revelation2 the Lord refers to these two stones which were given to the brother of Jared as the "Urim and Thummim." These two words do not appear anywhere in the Book of Mormon but are the names given to similar stones in the possession of Abraham as mentioned in Abraham 3:1, also the two stones in the possession of Noah as described in the Journal of Discourses 16:50 and also those in the possession of Moses and Aaron as indicated in Exodus 28:30 and Leviticus 8:8.
