“He Could Not Be Kept from Within the Veil”

W. Cleon Skousen

We are simply told that once the faith of the brother of Jared had reached a level where he could penetrate the veil, then nothing could be withheld from him. Of course, as the Lord had pointed out earlier, Mahonri's remarkable spiritual metamorphosis had never before been attained by any of God's earlier servants. All previous prophets had to be quickened so that they could endure his presence. This was also true of Moses who came later. As Moses wrote: "But now mine own eyes have beheld God; but not my natural, but my spiritual eyes, for my natural eyes could not have beheld; for I should have withered and died in his presence, but his glory was upon me and I beheld his face, for I was transfigured before him."1
