EVIDENCE: Deseret

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

In Ether, we learn that the word deseret refers to a honeybee. Since Ether (or perhaps Moroni) had to interpret the word, it obviously comes from the Jaredite language. Hugh Nibley explains that deseret, or a word similar to it, was used in ancient Egypt and was associated with the symbol of the bee. (See Echoes, 462–463.)
