“Went Down into the Valley Which Was Northward”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

The Jaredites left what we call Mesopotamia, today’s Iraq, for a promised land approximately two centuries before Abraham did the same. The Lord also guided Moses and the Israelites, the Nephites, and the Latter-day Saints to promised lands.

Nimrod was a renowned character who had established Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Nineveh in ancient Mesopotamia, according to tradition.
