Nimrod is a mighty hunter prior to the time of the Tower of Babel (see Genesis 10:8–9). During the period of the confounding of languages associated with the Tower of Babel, the Lord directs the brother of Jared and his group to take their provisions and travel to a valley northward, where they will be instructed on how to proceed to the promised land (see Ether 1:41–43; 2:1). In the valley of Nimrod, the Lord counsels with the brother of Jared from a cloud and gives him instructions concerning the journey.
