In this verse the Lord makes these people a fantastic promise. The Lord has not only promised to lead them to the choicest part of the planet but says they will thrive there and become the greatest nation upon all the face of the earth. As it turned out the Jaredites thrived as a mighty people until approximately 250 B.C. The population is described as running into the millions and would have apparently been superior to Babylon, Persia, Egypt and Greece.
