“Aaron Was a Descendant of Heth”

W. Cleon Skousen

We interrupt at this point to note that Ether speaks of Aaron as being called "a descendent of Heth" instead of calling him a son of Heth. Some scholars thought this represented a gap in the genealogical line. The question is solved in Ether 10:31, where Heth is specifically described as being the "father" of Aaron. This demonstrates that this is not a break in the genealogical line. It indicates that the phrase "a descendant of Heth" means the same as "a son of Heth."
