“The Pride of Their Hearts”

Brant Gardner

Moroni continues his description of the Nephites’ problem, accusing his future readers of the same fault. The Nephites became wealthy, then created and perpetuated social rankings. Those who were not wealthy are excluded from many social benefits, thus violating the Nephite principle of egalitarianism. Moroni sees this principle being violated during the day when the Book of Mormon comes forth.
