The prophecies of Isaiah tell of this thing; Moroni would have written them, but he had no space upon the Plates wherein to write. But Moroni points out that the cries of the Saints "who have possessed this land" in the ages that are gone, have been "unto the Lord," that He will not forget their brethren who may stray, and in His mercy "remember the Covenant which He hath made with them."
In the last verse of the last chapter of the Book of Mormon (9:37) in which Moroni fulfilled a solemn compact he had made with his father that he would finish writing the history of their people, Moroni notes that the cries of his people unto the Lord "are according to the prayers of all the Saints who have dwelt in the land." That their brethren who had "dwindled in unbelief" would some day have the Gospel of Christ preached unto them, and again have restored to them the knowledge of Christ that their fathers had, was the earnest supplication of their sires who had gone on before.)1
