“Ye Have Departed from the Ways of the Lord”

Brant Gardner

Those who had not continued faithful are on their way to meet the God they had rejected. No wonder he wishes that they had repented. Nevertheless, he affirms his belief in Yahweh’s justice.

Text: There is no chapter break at this point in the 1830 edition. However, at the conclusion of this lament, Mormon stops writing history and again addresses his future audience. Making a new chapter at this point was reasonable, but Mormon saw his final chapter as including both his people’s end and his hope in future believers.
